Who are we? Volunteer Donate Kids Recipes Thank You D'var Torah Kashrut Directions

We’re so glad you're interested in the soup kitchen! Let us tell you a little more about it.

We opened on Thanksgiving Sunday 2004. As of Thanksgiving 2005 we began serving the Sunday meal at Crossroads Rhode Island in downtown Providence in order to reach a larger number of those in need.

Sunday volunteers:  Cooks and sandwich makers come 8:30 -10:30 am to Congregation Beth Sholom, 275 Camp Street, on the East Side of Providence.  Servers come 10:45-12 to Crossroads RI, 160 Broad Street, Providence (at the old Downtown YMCA building).  Many volunteers do both jobs. 10:30-12 or 12:00-1:00 (clean up)

Child volunteers ages 8 and up can help make sandwiches on Sundays from 9-10:30 at Congregation Beth Sholom.  They must be accompanied by a parent.

If you have specific questions, feel free to email our Volunteer Coordinator David Mandelbaum at David_Mandelbaum@brown.edu
